For centuries an evil presence lurked beneath the Earth hidden away from the humans who dominated the planet. Those that lived above went on with their lives paying no mind to the beings hiding right under their noses. The humans stayed blissfully unaware for numerous decades, ignoring the signs pointing to the supernatural beings among them. These beings were clever though, either hiding in plain sight, or away impossible to be found waiting. What these creatures were waiting for no mortal soul would say scared of the possibilities. Missing persons, random murders, and destruction of property were all occurrences that pointed to the other power taunting the humans, daring them to stop it. Those in charge knew that when this mysterious entity finally decided to rise up they would be no match for them. For years the two authorities duked it out, one never outright attacking the other. A waiting game taking a toll on the sovereign species, causing widespread fear of what was to come. These miniscule shows of power as the metaphysical beings considered them, had the ability to wipe out entire towns. No one would dare predict what was to come when, not if, the day came for them to take back the world that was stolen from them. The leaders did what they could to protect their people, but they knew that they would not succeed, especially when the inevitable war came. They knew it was a matter of time before the creatures decided to lead a full on attack as their strikes were becoming bolder, affecting more populated areas. When war broke out neither side was surprised, but rather it seemed as though they were eager now more than ever. No one had to hold back anymore, a dream came true for the long oppressed creatures of the night and a nightmare for the reigning humans. Among the humans it became know as World War Three, but the creatures simply called it The Great Awakening. It was their time to reclaim the earth that had been stolen from them.
